For the Bird of the week this week I
present you with an interesting challenge. This bird does range in
part of North America but it does not range in Ohio where I found it.
I think this is the second or third record for Ohio. Another clue
is that this plumage is uncommon and the other plumage is what this
bird is know for. See what you can find out about the interesting
feeding behavior of this bird.

This one was tough! We were detectives and looked at your list to make sure you had actually found one of these.. Starts with a R and second word E? We won't tell, others maybe trying to figure it out! Grateful for the Sibley Birds book.
ReplyDeleteGood job, I was happy to get a Reddish Egret this early in the big year. We plan to be in Texas in January and this is where the Reddish Egret normally ranges. If I can, I will share a video of a reddish colored one feeding. We shall see.
