Today when we were looking for the bird we thought it was the Goosander. I hope we are right. Happy summer ( and birding ) !!!!!!!!!

you are so right. I think Goosander is the European name for the duck we call the Common Merganser. We are heading back through Canada tomorrow and will be back in Alaska in two days so I will be searching for the next bird of the week. Thanks for continuing to monitor the blog.
